This was a specialist project, that required one company being able to carry out the traditional Westmoreland slating, insulation works to pitched roofs, traditional leadwork to cupolas and dormers, single ply waterproofing to various flat roofs and the large box gutter to the interface of atrium roof, cladding works, joinery works and replacement cast iron guttering to a Grade 2 Listed building.
Starting in September 2017 and finishing in June 2019, we removed and re-fixed over 2500m2 of traditional Westmoreland and Welsh slate, replaced all the existing leadwork to, dormers, Cupolas and Verges. Re-roofed over 800m2 of existing flat roofs with Lead grey Sarnafil membrane and insulation. Applied Sarnafil Waterproofing, HD board and Protection layer to plantroom roof. Formed timber box gutters and waterproofed in Sarnafil membrane for Free form roof. Installed cladding to plantroom buildings Replaced ornate defective fascia and soffits to pitched roofs.
A bold series of architectural interventions by Bond Bryan Architects brought the existing buildings together with a spectacular glass atrium roof . This roof was installed by Austrian Company Waagner Biro. Working closely with the team, we had to deliver four different disciplines of roofing to be integrated with the Atrium roof and the existing Grade 2 listed buildings. We also had to design different temporary waterproofing details where the scaffold came through the existing roofs to allow the atrium installation.
